Russell Martin is the player Brighton is pursuing to replace Roberto De Zerbi, who is expected to depart the Amex at the end of the current campaign, FootballTransfers can confirm.

During the international break, the Seagulls and the highly regarded Southampton coach had talks, but nothing has been decided or finalized as of yet.

The Brighton native who was a member of Norwich’s youth academy played for the South Coast team. Martin took over relegated Southampton last summer, and the Saints are presently fourth in the Championship. Martin earned his coaching spurs at MK Dons and Swansea.

Although Liverpool is keeping an eye on De Zerbi, the current Brighton manager, to replace Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, we can also confirm that the Reds are big admirers of Ruben Amorim of Sporting CP.

De Zerbi has also been linked to Barcelona and Bayern Munich, but FootballTransfers just revealed that Xavi might still pull off a stunning comeback.

Either way, Brighton has begun to organize matters so that, prior to the opening of the summer transfer season, a prompt appointment is made.

Brighton wants Undav to come back.
FootballTransfers can also confirm that, even though Stuttgart has the option to buy the striker, Brighton will undoubtedly demand that Deniz Undav return from his productive loan there.

With 16 goals and eight assists this season, the Seagulls think Undav is good enough to be a factor next season. Ansu Fati, who is returning to Barcelona in the summer, would be replaced by him. Brighton is trying to lure Undav in with big promises of playing time.

The striker and Stuttgart have both stated that they want to continue their partnership after the current campaign, but so far, the biggest obstacle has been the possible fee.

Stuttgart will have to pay up to €20 million for the newly-minted German international if they make it into the Champions League, which is becoming more and more plausible. The club’s transfer record would be destroyed by this, and it’s not certain if it would be financially feasible to spend this much money.

Regarding the 27-year-old, head coach Sebastian Hoeness recently stated, “There are no two opinions about it from my side,” expressing his confidence that Undav will remain in Swabia. Deniz is a fantastic player who is enjoying a fantastic season. He’s a smart player who scores and creates opportunities, and we get along well.”

However, behind the scenes, it increasingly looks as though Undav will playing his football at the Amex next season.
