Wrexham striker Paul Mullin has warned his teammates as the League Two promotion race reaches a fascinating finale.

Wrexham have been in this position before, so close yet so far from achieving promotion.

Having beaten Notts County to the National League last term in one of the most intense title races in history, Phil Parkinson‘s men are in a similar position this term.

The Reds are second in the table however, they are only three points above fourth-place Mansfield Town.

Promotion to League One is in their own hands, but only just, after coming from behind to beat strugglers Colchester United dramatically.

Paul Mullin did what he does best by equalising the match with his 100th Wrexham goal before Max Cleworth scored the winner.

While the moment was celebrated from all corners of the globe, with Rob McElhenney offering his reaction via X, Wrexham were issued a warning in that match.

Going behind initially saw complacency rear its ugly head while showing the powers of recovery demonstrated their promotion credentials.

Paul Mullin fires warning to Wrexham teammates

Wrexham host play-off chasers Crawley Town tonight.

Despite boasting the best home record in the division (2.25 PPG), the Reds won’t take their opponents lightly who are fresh from putting four past Newport County and Mansfield Town.

Their thrashing of the Stags on Saturday was a huge help to Wrexham, but only if they get the job done tonight.

Ahead of the clash, Mullin has warned his teammates about how far away promotion is despite so few matches still to play.

“There’s no point talking about getting out of this league yet because anything can happen in one game let alone when there’s four to go,” Mullin told BBC Sport.

“I’m refusing to speak about it because until it’s achieved there’s nothing to talk about.

“It’s not in touching distance – it’s as far away as it’s ever been because nothing is confirmed until it’s done. We won’t be getting ahead of ourselves.”

Wrexham’s talisman does not only lead by example off the pitch, but his century of goals for the club places him in elite company.

Wrexham’s all-time top scorers

Mullin’s exceptional scoring record of 100 goals in just 129 appearances propels him into the top 10 of all time.

The Liverpool-born forward has cemented himself into the history books as he closes in on several names above him.

Here are Wrexham’s top 10 record goalscorers of all time, as per Wrexham AFC Archive.

If Mullin stays at Wrexham for years to come, there is no doubt he can break Bert Goode’s record of 148 goals, but it’s a question of whether he can eclipse Tommy Bamford’s total of 213. Rising the divisions will certainly make that goal much harder.
