Due to a hamstring injury, Wrexham star Jacob Mendy looks to have ruled himself out of their League Two promotion campaign.

Consequently, what happened?
The hamstring injury that the Gambian international sustained during Wrexham’s 2-1 victory over Colchester United earlier this month prevented him from playing in Tuesday night’s 4-1 success at home against Crawley Town. The former Wealdstone player has now said that he will return stronger even though he believes his season is finished.

THOUGHS OF JACOB MENDY
On Wednesday afternoon, the 27-year-old tweeted: “I’m sorry I couldn’t help with the final push. It’s time for me to experience this aspect of the game since injuries are a necessary part of the trip. I’ll return more powerful.

Since joining the Welsh team from Boreham Wood in 2022, the wing-back, who can also play as a winger, has been a vital member of the team, contributing five assists and six goals in 67 games. He may not, however, be able to play this season as Wrexham, who are in second place, aim to advance twice in a row after winning the National League the previous year. Fans of the club, nevertheless, would have valued his efforts.

Next?
Mendy will be sidelined, but Wrexham will attempt to advance without him. On Saturday, Phil Parkinson’s team takes on the lowly Forest Green Rovers, knowing that a win would guarantee immediate promotion, while a loss or a tie for MK Dons and Barrow would mean nothing.
