Despite persistent rumors regarding his future, Roberto De Zerbi, the manager of Brighton & Hove Albion, has stated he has no concrete plans to leave this summer.
In an interview with Bobo TV in Italy, the Seagulls manager stated that, for the time being, he plans to stay in England.
Following Graham Potter’s transfer to Chelsea, the Italian coach’s reputation has grown since taking over at Brighton.
After an incredible inaugural year in which they became the first team to qualify for European football, they have had further challenges this year due to injuries and the loss of important players like Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister.
His standing hasn’t suffered much, though, as the Brighton coach has been connected to a number of high-profile positions this summer, including those at Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Barcelona.
De Zerbi has fuelled more rumors by openly declining to sign a new contract and stating that he must meet with Brighton’s management to confirm that their goals and intentions still coincide.
However, he now appears to be taking a different tack and insisting that no team in the world could lure him away from his pledge to quit the Premier League.
He declared, “I love our football and Italy.”
“I have no intention of leaving England or the Premier League; I feel good here.” I’ve committed, and no team can make me change my mind. I enjoy being outside and taking in the stadium’s ambiance.
“In addition, I have the chance to advance my language and football skills in England.”
