Daniel Farke is not one to boast. While the German undoubtedly has a tough streak that all winners need, the German comes across as a genial and likeable presence at the club.

But make no mistake, he knows what it takes to get the club back into the Premier League and is confident he has the necessary tools to drive the Whites forward. So when questions are raised about the recent form, it’s no surprise he is able to bat them away with his usual calm, but focused, assurance.

Leeds have won just one of their last four Championship games ahead of lunchtime’s test against Blackburn Rovers at Elland Road, with Leicester holding a slight advantage in the race for the Premier League thanks to their game in hand. The Foxes sit top of the pile, narrowly ahead of of Ipswich and then Leeds as we reach the final four games of what has been an incredible season.

Who will claim the top two spots is almost anyone’s guess and, despite a run of just one league defeat in 2024, there have been some understandable twitching among the Leeds faithful. Time, then, for Farke to calm a few nerves. Farke embraces the passion from the terraces, and will use all his experience to harness that for a positive future. “I really like how emotional our supporters are,” he said ahead of today’s game. “I was so interested to lead this club when I signed the contract. I know the potential this club has got.

“I was never naive when I signed a contract. Everyone is so emotional for this club and it’s important you lead this club not like a flag in the wind. You’ve got to be capable of what you can do. You never take anything personally. You have to be calm when you lead this club.

“We have the best home record in the league. We have been by far the best team in the second half of the season. We have the best defensive record of all teams. We are not relying on one player. We share the goals. We don’t rely on one player. We show what this club is about. We have created a group with spirit and identity. We have climbed the ladder step by step.”

Leeds will be looking for that calm assurance against a Blackburn side who lost 5-0 to Bristol City in midweek. John Eustace’s side have enjoyed mixed results of late, beating Sunderland 5-1 at the Stadium of Light and holding Blackburn to a goalless draw. They also took Newcastle United to penalties in the FA Cup fifth round before losing on spot-kicks.
