Morgan Gibbs White of Nottingham Forest is supposedly Newcastle’s top choice to replace Bruno Guimaraes, should he depart during the summer transfer season.

Eddie Howe’s team is currently 10 points behind Aston Villa in sixth position, who are in fourth place after an incredible season the previous year.

After crushing Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 early on Saturday afternoon, the Magpies were able to catch up, although they are still very much out of the running for Champions League qualification.

As their dreams of playing in the Champions League for two straight seasons are fading, the team is getting ready for both a financial setback and the possible departure of some of their key players.

The top player on that list is Guimaraes, a Brazilian midfielder who moved to England and has since been pursued by many of Europe’s best.

Howe might have to accept losing his star player in the middle of the park with teams like Real Madrid and Manchester City around.

Football 365 reports state that the team has determined that Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest, an English midfielder valued at £50 million, is the best substitute.

If Guimaraes were to depart, Newcastle would be looking to get £100 million for him, which may enable them to add a few players to improve the caliber of the team as a whole.

Alexander Isak has also been connected to a transfer away as speculation about an Arsenal bid intensifies.

On Wednesday, Howe’s team plays Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, and on the weekend, they host Sheffield United, who are struggling for survival, at St. James’ Park.
