Real Betis is prepared to compete with Sevilla for a “market opportunity” and go after Brighton & Hove Albion’s promising player Valentin Barco.

Estadio Deportivo claims that the Spanish pair is “very attentive” to their surroundings and the potential to score a deal this summer.

Recent reports suggest that Barco, who has struggled to establish himself since joining Brighton from Boca Juniors in January, may be permitted to leave the team on loan in the summer to get experience elsewhere.

After that, Betis might potentially be added to the list of admirers as director of football Victor Orta searches for inexpensive players to bolster his team. Sevilla was also mentioned as possible suitors.

Estadio clarifies that Betis are keeping a close eye on the Brighton teenagers, considering him a potential market asset.
They will require a new left-back this summer since Abner Vinicius is heading to Lyon and Juan Miranda is leaving on a free transfer.

They have their eye on Nicolas Tagliafico, but the club’s sporting director, Manu Fajardo, is keeping an eye on the market and believes Barco would be a good fit.

He is a “great admirer” of the player, much like Victor Orta at Sevilla, and both would be delighted to have him on loan—especially if they can work out a buyout clause.

That will depend on Brighton, and Estadio has stated that, for the time being, teams in the Premier League and Championship are given preference. However, given that the young player knows Spanish, it might be more sensible for him to move to La Liga.

Though a decision still needs to be made, Betis and Sevilla are lining up to move in on the young player should Brighton make him available.
