Under general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay, the Los Angeles Rams started the trend of teams going all-in on acquiring star talent when available.

The Rams kickstarted the most aggressive team-building strategy years ago when they swung several blockbuster deals for proven stars in exchange for high draft picks

Before the franchise’s move to Los Angeles, they sent a bevy of picks to select Jared Goff No. 1 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Since then, the Rams sent out their first-round pick every year in exchange for players like Jalen Ramsey and Matthew Stafford.

However, the 2024 NFL Draft is a different story as Los Angeles owns their own first-round pick and seems poised to finally use it, via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

“In the upcoming NFL draft, the Los Angeles Rams are scheduled to make their first first-round pick since 2016, when they used the No. 1 overall pick on Jared Goff,” Schefter tweeted.

The Rams used the 2023 NFL season to reset their cap sheet and develop their rookies and young players, but now can potentially add a massive talent from this year’s class.

With Aaron Donald retiring from the league, Los Angeles is heavily expected to use their first-round pick on a defensive lineman like Byron Murphy or Laiatu Latu

However, the Rams could also decide to go all-in on the offense and take a wide receiver like Brian Thomas or Adonai Mitchell.

Either way, Los Angles has a chance to add a foundational piece to the roster and make a legitimate playoff run with the rest of their group
