After shining for the Whites throughout the 2023–24 campaign, Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville won the Championship’s Player of the Season accolade on Sunday night at the EFL Awards.

With a hand in 27 goals in 43 games for Leeds during our push for automatic promotion, 22-year-old prodigy Summerville has defeated players like Georginio Rutter, Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, and Sammie Szmodics.

At times, his skill has been so good that opponents in championships have found him nearly unplayable. Leeds needs to maintain that form in the remaining three games of the season since a spot in the top two is highly competitive.

Ross McCormack asserted earlier in the season that Summerville is the finest player in the Championship. As Summerville curled one past his team into the upper corner, Watford manager Tom Cleverley echoed his sentiments.

Following her award triumph, Crysencio Summerville shares photos on Instagram.
He now has the corresponding award. On Sunday, Summerville received the gong. Young Player of the Season went to Archie Gray in the end. Georgi Rutter, Ethan Ampadu, and Summerville in the Team of the Season.

Summerville took to Instagram after he was announced as the League’s best player for 2023-24, clearly delighted to be voted as the league’s best. Hopefully, a confidence boost for the Netherlands U21 man.

What stars from Ipswich and Everton said about Summerville in Leeds
Summerville has been nothing short of amazing this season, and at the end of the game, the pocket-sized attacker deserves a promotion. But Leeds faces a daunting task with three games remaining.

Leeds, who are in third place, are two points behind Ipswich and a point behind Leicester, who have a game in hand. Recently, the results have been spectacular, to the point where Gary Lineker joked that “nobody” sought a promotion.

If Summerville and Gray were to receive these honors, it would be absurd, but Leeds is unable to advance Daniel Farke to the Championship for a third time. Next up, three major games to make it worthwhile.

Summerville, though, will be basking in his peers’ praise for the time being. Omari Hutchinson of Ipswich dismissed the competitiveness that accompanies a title contest in favor of praising Summerville, writing “player” on his Instagram post.

Amadou Onana, an Everton player, added his thoughts, stating that Summerville’s accolade was “deserved.”
