Following their promotion to League One, seven Wrexham players may depart from the team.

Wrexham, captained by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, successfully defended their promotion for the second time on Saturday, defeating Forest Green 6-0 to guarantee their spot in League One for the following campaign.

After taking over the Welsh football team in 2021, the Hollywood stars were promoted to the Football League two years later after a 15-year hiatus.

Fans flocked to the Racecourse Ground over the weekend to celebrate Phil Parkinson’s team’s second straight victory.

Deadpool star Reynolds wrote on X: “A few years ago, if you told me I would be crying tears of joy over a football match taking place in North Wales, you would be Rob McElhenney.

“Wrexham and my co-chairman in crime deserve congratulations. Boost the town by double! This is our life’s journey.

Co-creator of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, McElhenney, stated on X that he was watching the game from Los Angeles and wrote, “No words.”

In addition, he praised Paul Mullin, the standout striker for Wrexham, who scored twice in the first half to give his team a 4-0 advantage at the break.

I think my favorite of his goals is this one. Not a high-roller or anything special. Just tenacity, diligence, and determination,” he stated.

The fans in that stadium didn’t spend their hard-earned money to watch guys give 95%, as @PMullin7 is aware. He offers them all that they deserve, a hundred percent. The moment.”

Like any promotion, of course, this would likely include a squad revamp over the summer, which will be aided by the fact that several players have expiring contracts.

The contracts of center backs Ben Tozer, Aaron Hayden, and Jordan Tunnicliffe expire at the end of the current campaign.

The player with the longest tenure for the team, Luke Young, also has a contract that ends on June 30.

The other players out of contract are defender Callum McFadzean and goalkeeping duo Rob Lainton and Mark Howard.

Elliot Lee, the star of Wrexham, had one request for co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney when the team won League Two by default.

The Red Dragons knew going into Saturday that a victory over Forest Green, the lowest team, would send them into third division football for the first time in 19 years, while a victory over MK Dons, the fourth-place team, would send Mansfield into third place.

Wrexham fulfilled their half of the agreement, taking a 3-0 lead at the Racecourse Ground in the first thirty-five minutes.

However, Mansfield trailed MK Dons for the first thirty minutes of their match until defender Elliott Hewitt’s equalizer gave Wrexham the lead for the time being.

And Nigel Clough’s team overcame all obstacles in the second half to secure a 4-1 victory, while Wrexham thoroughly destroyed their opponents, 6-0, leaving them facing National League football.

Luckily for the Wrexham supporters, the drama had subsided to almost nothing by halftime, and there were displays of fan excitement at the end.

A few of the festivities are visible below.

Former West Ham academy graduate Lee has played a key role in the promotion triumph, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists in 44 League Two appearances.

He signed a new contract with Wrexham on New Year’s Day, alongside star striker Paul Mullin, with the agreements keeping both players at the club until 2027.

That means the midfielder can firmly focus on the club’s return to League One – although did have one request for Reynolds and McElhenney for the off season.

Speaking to BBC Sport Wales after the 6-0 win, he announced: “I don’t know if they’ve messaged anyone yet. We usually get a message from Ryan after a game so I’m sure he’ll message soon enough – they both will, to be fair.

“We’ve just told them to fire up the jet for Vegas!”

Wrexham visited Vegas last year following their promotion from the National League, and it looks like another trip might follow…

Harry Maguire, a defender for Manchester United, was spotted at Wrexham.

Wrexham, who were promoted from the National League the previous season, might guarantee their spot in League One this coming weekend.

In the event that they triumph against Forest Green, the lowest team, and other outcomes go their way, they would receive their first back-to-back promotions in their 159-year existence.

The Welsh team defeated Crawley Town 4-1 on Tuesday with great style. After goals from Paul Mullin and Ryan Barnett in the first half, Andy Cannon sealed the victory with a header 14 minutes from the end.

Before Klaidi Lolos gave Crawley a late consolation goal, Mullin scored his second goal of the game.

As a result of the outcome, Wrexham is currently five points ahead of MK Dons in fourth place in the table, guaranteeing at least a play-off spot.

If they defeat Forest Green and Mk Dons on Saturday and Barrow loses their respective matches against Gillingham and Mansfield Town on the same day, they will be promoted.

Despite the absence of Wrexham owners and red carpet celebrities Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney from the 4-1 demolition of Crawley, United defender Maguire showed up to cheer on his brother Laurence, who was playing for the opposition.

“We worked long and hard on Crawley about how good they are away from home, and we certainly respected the players they’ve got,” Wrexham assistant manager Steve Parkin said following the encounter.

“We believed that we would generate opportunities during the break; nonetheless, it required clinical performance, in my opinion.

“I’m thrilled for all of the players. All we have to do is make sure we get well, get enough sleep, and are prepared for the weekend.”

Scott Lindsey, the manager of Crawley Town, stated in the meantime: “I’m just disappointed with the result, but it won’t define our season.” Although we’ve been great lately, this is a difficult location to visit.

“We found it challenging, at least for the first four moments. We didn’t really ask them many questions, but we’ll prepare for the next game regardless of what happened.”

Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds has given an emotional reaction to the Welsh club earning promotion from League Two on Saturday.

The Red Dragons’ 6-0 thrashing of relegation-threatened Forest Green, coupled with results elsewhere, ensures that Wrexham will gain their second consecutive promotion after winning the National League title last season.

They will be joined in League One by Stockport, who are four points ahead of them in first place and confirmed their own promotion with a 3-0 win over Morecambe.
