Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Christian Benteke have now sent messages to Tyrick Mitchell after Crystal Palace recorded a 1-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday.
Oliver Glasner witnessed the clearest sign yet of his tactics taking shape at Crystal Palace on Merseyside last week, with the Eagles receiving widespread praise for a fantastic performance at Anfield.
Gary Lineker was left stunned by the quality of our display, while Alan Shearer was another to heap praise on Crystal Palace’s spirited effort against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Everybody played their part, although Christian Benteke and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have now sent messages to one Crystal Palace player who was particularly fantastic in Tyrick Mitchell…
Christian Benteke and Aaron Wan-Bissaka send message to Tyrick Mitchell
Well, the Crystal Palace No.3 arguably delivered his best performance for the Eagles on Sunday.
Mitchell managed to keep Salah completely quiet, while also contributing heavily in an attacking sense.
The England international took more touches of the ball than any other Crystal Palace player with 72 – as shown by WhoScored – and also provided the assist for Ebere Eze’s goal.
Furthermore, Mitchell – who is hardly a giant – won three aerial duels. No Crystal Palace player won more headers, while he also recorded three successful tackles and made a special block to prevent Salah from scoring.
After the 24-year-old uploaded a celebratory post on Instagram, Benteke responded “class” in the comments section.
Wan-Bissaka also showed his appreciation for his fellow Crystal Palace academy graduate, albeit in the form of emojis as the Manchester United No.29 wrote “🔥👌🏾” in response.
Jean-Philippe Mateta, Adam Wharton and Michael Olise also sent Mitchell a series of emojis to congratulate him on a fine performance.
Oliver Glasner might reassess Crystal Palace transfer plan
By the looks of it, Glasner and Dougie Freedman are planning to sign a new left wing-back this summer, or were planning to at least.
There was talk of another move for Lewis Hall this summer, but if Mitchell keeps performing like this in the final six games, he will surely prove to the Austrian that he can handle this highly demanding left wing-back role.
In truth, the Brent-born defender could even break into Gareth Southgate’s England squad for UEFA EURO 2024 if he keeps it up, given the indifferent form of Ben Chilwell and Luke Shaw.
