With major changes planned, Philippe Clement will prioritize strengthening his Rangers defense in the trade market this summer, according to Barry Ferguson.

The former Ibrox captain stated in real time on Go Radio’s Football Show on April 15 that no matter what happens, work will be done on the team at the end of the season. In light of the Gers’ worrying recent form, which has seen them win just two of their last seven games across all competitions, he also stated that the back line will undoubtedly require attention.

Ferguson, who emphasized the significance of resurrecting the challenge, acknowledged he has no idea what money will be available if Clement’s team doesn’t finish first and receive the Champions League cash that would come with it, after the shocking loss at Ross County threatened to derail the title challenge over the weekend.

According to Ferguson, whether Rangers win the league or not, there will be changes, as reported by Football Scotland. I believe the manager will move in an effort to bolster the group and the team.

“However, that is contingent upon winning; you possess the £40 million. Furthermore, I’m not sure what kind of funding will be made available if they lose, but I believe he will go

Not only the defensive end of it, but I believe he’ll scan the entire field. Whether they are a wide player, a center forward, or a central midfielder. However, I believe he will focus on strengthening the defense.

Rangers squad limitations resurface at a pivotal point in the match against Celtic
Clement has been able to inspire this Gers team to be more than the sum of their parts for the most of his tenure at Ibrox, while also bringing about significant improvements from a number of players.

Although the Belgian was receiving more than anticipated for several weeks, he is currently witnessing some concerning regressions to some of his worst moments from the previous few seasons.

Connor Goldson has been out of form for a while, and even if there aren’t many excellent choices for central defense, there is undoubtedly a case to be made for Leon Balogun, even though his 35-year-old age may not be a benefit for Ibrox.

The timing of Ridvan Yilmaz’s injury was terrible; this season, injuries have plagued players consistently; Cyriel Dessers, despite his merits and recent improvement, is not a top striker; and John Lundstram’s form abruptly declined before it rebounded after Clement joined the team, which may have contributed to his lack of a new contract.

It was only a few weeks ago that James Tavernier was regularly being praised for his outstanding achievements, but after his nightmare start to the Old Firm derby last week he looks a mile off his best and needs to improve immediately.

A busy transfer market was always likely given Clement has only made one permanent signing since taking over a squad that was heading the wrong way fast under Michael Beale, but if a potential treble charge fizzles out in the home straight it could lead to another major overhaul.

Inconsistency in some players can be masked when the unit is functioning strongly, but if too many are boom and bust operators it risks the whole side going off the boil, and that is arguably the issue now.
