Ipswich Town leads the league with three Championship games remaining in the current campaign, but Kieran McKenna and his team know that there is still work to be done.

With a game remaining, the Tractor Boys lead Leicester City by just one point, and Leeds United behind them by just two points.

Ipswich was held to a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough, and Leicester and Leeds also suffered shocking losses, making it a terrible weekend for the top three.

Even though the Tractor Boys were the only team to gain a point, it will be felt as a wasted chance because a victory would have given them some breathing room from Leeds, who are currently in third place.

There will be a lot of twists and turns as Kieran McKenna’s team looks to win promotion with games against Hull, Coventry, and Huddersfield coming up.

In light of that, the most recent Ipswich Town news is provided below.

Ipswich Town take National League youngster on trial

Karl Bailey, a winger for Woking, is reportedly on trial with the team before perhaps joining the Tractor Boys, according to TWTD.

Bailey made his debut for Ipswich’s u21 team on Monday afternoon after playing for the club’s u18 team in a 4-1 loss against Wigan Athletic.

After scoring to tie the game at one and guarantee that the prizes were shared, the player fulfilled his contract with the hope that he would not sustain any injuries.

Although it’s obvious that Bailey wouldn’t now be in the first team if he signed, it does demonstrate that the team is actively seeking out guys who have the potential to be future stars.

Kieran McKenna reacts to Ipswich’s Player of the Year award

Sam Morsy was named the Supporters Club’s Player of the Year by Kieran McKenna, who believes he deserves the honor.

The manager of Tractor Boys stated to the EADT, “I believe he’s a deserving winner.” While so many of the youngsters have stepped up to the plate, I believe he has demonstrated excellent leadership both on the field and in the training area.

In addition, he has put in a ton of work on the details in his game that weren’t there two years ago, the caliber of his performances, and the way he controls games both on and off the ball.

Naturally, he’s been healthy enough to play in a lot of games. He is another who has completed the five ninety minutes consecutively.

“A testament to him, richly merited.”

This season, in 39 league appearances, the Egyptian international has tallied two goals and six assists.

Simon Jordan issues warning to Ipswich Town

Simon Jordan has warned Ipswich Town that they could come unstuck and be knocked out of the promotion race if they “don’t do their jobs” via talkSPORT.

The former Crystal Palace chairman said, “They’ve (Ipswich) not achieved anything yet in terms of getting out of the division and they have to focus on the fact that there are games that Leeds have, that Leicester have that can change the picture very quickly if Ipswich don’t do their job.

“Ipswich have given themselves a wonderful opportunity. Leeds and Leicester have done their very level best to try and avoid getting promoted automatically in the last few weeks.”

Whilst it would be an incredible achievement for Kieran McKenna’s side to make it back-to-back promotions, nothing has been achieved yet, and Ipswich need to remain focused and do their jobs, as Jordan said.

Kieran McKenna discusses the issues that Ipswich are facing

With the Championship promotion race going to the wire, Kieran McKenna has opened up on some of the issues he’s facing with a lack of squad depth thanks to a number of injuries in recent weeks.

McKenna, who won the Manager of the Season award on Sunday, told the BBC, “Some of the boys have played five games in the last 15 days, played 90 minutes every game – we’d like to have a little more depth in one or two positions.

“That’s an awful lot of football and every game’s gone to the wire. We’re the team that runs the most in the league, the boys put everything into it physically, and I think we’ll come back from the period stronger.

“Now we’ve got a little bit of time to train, prepare, recover and then we can look forward to three games. We know it’s going to be really tough, but it’s something to relish and I know we’ll give it everything.”

With just three games left this season, McKenna will be praying his side can find the energy to help get them over the line and reach the Premier League.
