Wrexham fans can start looking towards news from League One rather than League Two after securing another promotion.

Saturday’s 6-0 win over Forest Green Rovers saw Wrexham celebration a second promotion inside the last year.

Mansfield Town’s 4-1 win at Milton Keynes Dons saw Wrexham get over the line and fans flooded the STōK Cae Ras pitch to celebrate.

After nearly 20 years out of League One, Wrexham are back in the third tier and what a journey it has been in recent years.

Wrexham were stuck in the National League for 15 long years and a return to League One – especially via back-to-back promotions – felt like a mere pipe dream.

In came Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, completely changing the trajectory of the club and giving fans something to believe in once again.

Here we are now, coming to the end of the League Two season and already looking towards the competition in League One…

Wrexham’s League One rivals make manager change

Some spots in League One are still to be decided, in terms of the League Two play-offs and who is coming down from the Championship.

One Championship club have already learned their fate with Rotherham United relegated.

The Millers have become a yo-yo club, going up and down from League One to the Championship and back again with regularity.

This season has been particularly difficult, winning just four of their 43 Championship games so far and claiming just 23 points.

Rotherham’s relegation has already been confirmed and they will be facing Wrexham this season, but they have already made a managerial change.

Leam Richardson has been axed despite many believing that he was initially brought in because of his experience as a League One boss.

Rotherham have quickly moved to replace him as they have completed a stunning move to bring Steve Evans back to the club.

The Scot has quit his post at Stevenage to return to Rotherham with immediate effect, having previously spent three-and-a-half years in charge of the club.

This is a big move for Rotherham and which they hope will bring League One success next season.

Phil Parkinson record v Steve Evans

Evans will now go up against Wrexham in League One having previously faced off eight times.

His record stands at four wins, one draw and three defeats across spells at Crawley Town and Boston United.

But what about Evans’ record against Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson as they prepare to do battle once again?

Evans has faced Parkinson 12 times over his career; he has only gone up against three managers on more occasions than that.

Evans boasts a very good record in those games, losing just once to Parkinson whilst winning eight and drawing three.

Their last meeting came in 2020, with Parkinson’s Sunderland beating Evans and his Gillingham side 2-0.

Evans won each of his first six meetings with Parkinson and the Wrexham boss will be keen to improve his record against the new Rotherham boss next season.
