Philippe Clement is facing questions for the first time in his Rangers career and may have to shake things up for the semi-final clash with Hearts.
The Light Blues have been poor and it goes way deeper than the results in losing to Ross County and Dundee as performances have been worryingly below par too. Their bad run stretches far beyond that too, with just two wins in their last eight matches which is clearly not title-winning form.
The cup does offer a change of scenery though and with the prize of a place in the final at stake, that may well be all the motivation that’s needed to shake off their malaise. Nevertheless, Clement may be tempted to make a few changes anyway with several starters not living up to standards.
It makes tomorrow’s selection an interesting one and Football Scotland has had a go at predicting it below.
Jack Butland
Has made big saves throughout the season and deserved his TOTY spot. Hearts will pose a threat so will have to be on guard as usual.
James Tavernier
Been praised and criticised in equal measure but nobody will be surprised if he comes up big for his team once again.
Connor Goldson
Another who has been criticised and will look to bounce back by keeping things tight and helping his team to a final.
John Souttar
There may be a case for Leon Balogun to come in but he has been ill so Souttar may keep his spot.
Dujon Sterling
Another position that could be up for debate but Sterling will likely get the nod over the outgoing Borna Barisic. Clement did suggest there was a chance of Ridvan Yilmaz making it though so you never know.
John Lundstram
Fresh from being named in the team of the year, he will be out to prove he’s worthy of it after some poorer displays.
Mohamed Diomande
It wasn’t a serious injury keeping him out so should be good to go.
Abdallah Sima
Could be the danger man in blue, especially with another game under his belt after coming back from injury.
Todd Cantwell
A toss up between Cantwell and Lawrence to be the number 10 but the Englishman you feel can pop up with something.
Ross McCausland
Might be time to unleash the young man again with Fabio Silva faltering. The team are in need of an injection and he’s provided it before.
Cyriel Dessers
Much maligned but does have 17 goals this season and there aren’t many other options for the striking berth.
