Leeds United are open to selling Willy Gnonto for the right fee during the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider.

The Italian has been an excellent addition for the Whites, joining back in the summer of 2022 and proving to be one of the most successful signings for the club during that period.

Doing well during his first campaign at Elland Road, he has been able to build on that this season, although that hasn’t come without complications.

Last August, it seemed as though Gnonto was desperate to move away from the West Yorkshire side and he even made himself unavailable for a couple of games during that month.

That looked set to end his career at the club, but the situation was resolved in the end and the winger remained at Elland Road beyond the end of that summer window.

Things didn’t improve for the player straight away though, even though he scored away at Ipswich Town during the early stages of the campaign, with an ankle injury ruling him out for a number of games.

This injury sustained against Hull City in September was a real blow – but he was able to recover from that and has shown real character to enjoy a semi-successful season.

And the 20-year-old could be a crucial asset for the Whites between now and the end of the campaign, with Daniel Farke’s side firmly in the automatic promotion mix despite disappointing recent results.

A win at Middlesbrough this evening would be a real boost – and Gnonto is in contention to start that game – having been a lively figure against Blackburn Rovers.

Leeds United’s stance on Willy Gnonto and price tag

It’s clear that Leeds are in a strong negotiating position with Gnonto.

Not only is he only 20, but he has also managed to recover from his struggles earlier in the campaign to get himself on the scoresheet on numerous occasions and his contract doesn’t expire until the summer of 2027.

With the player still having three years remaining on his contract, Farke’s side have the power to demand a high fee for him.

Football Insider believes the Whites are open to cashing in on him for £20m-£30m, with an offer at the higher end of that range likely to be accepted.

The same outlet believes could attract interest from the Premier League this summer.

Leeds United should take a tough stance on Willy Gnonto

The Whites have a huge amount of power over Gnonto’s future.

Their negotiating power could be weakened ever so slightly if they aren’t promoted at the end of the season.

But they are in a position where they could probably sell him for at least £15m or £20m.

With the amount of time he has left on his contract in mind, Farke’s side can probably hold on to him for at least another year and still sell him for a sizeable amount.

And this is a key reason why they can’t let him go on the cheap this summer, regardless of whether they win promotion or not.
