Following his injury sustained during the Light Blues’ Scottish Cup victory against Hearts at Hampden Park, Rangers attacker Abdallah Sima has spoken out.

The Gers defeated Celtic 2-0 on Sunday, April 21, to secure their spot in the championship game. Cyriel Dessers’ braces either side of halftime kept the slender chances of a domestic triple alive at Ibrox.

Sima, a Senegalese international on loan from Brighton, went off after just 15 minutes due to a hamstring problem, dealing a further blow to Philippe Clement’s team early in the first half. However, Sima has hinted that he may play in the final.

On Sunday, April 21, he posted a picture of himself playing at Hampden along with the Light Blues’ caption, “Onto the final,” on his Instagram story.

Is Abdallah Sima healthy enough to play for Philippe Clement and Rangers against St Mirren?
Sima has been a revelation in the Light Blues’ front line and has not looked back since moving to Glasgow. So many of Michael Beale’s summer acquisitions at Ibrox struggled to adjust to the Scottish game.

In just 17 Premiership starts this season, the 22-year-old has scored 11 goals; the majority of those starts have come from wide positions. Though he hasn’t played as well as he could have given his past injury some time to heal, he is still one of Clement’s more dependable wide players.

Maintaining his fitness till the conclusion of the season was always going to be crucial to the Gers’ championship hopes. If the Brighton loanee misses any more of the season after this most recent setback, it will be a huge blow.

I hope he won’t be out of the game for too long. Even though his tweet is unclear, it does seem to indicate that he plans to return before the season is out. Rangers and Clement need Sima to be available and fit since Scott Wright is out of the picture and Fabio Silva isn’t playing well.
