Following the signing of a new, long-term contract, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has emerged as the highest paid NFL coach.

After spending 13 years with the Philadelphia Eagles, the 66-year-old took the helm of the Chiefs in 2013. Since then, he has led Kansas City to three Super Bowl victories, the most recent one being against the San Francisco 49ers in February.

Reid has been hired by the Chiefs, who are now hoping for an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl win. New long-term contracts have also been agreed to by the team’s general manager, Brett Veach, and president, Mark Donovan.

The NFL Network reports that Veach’s contract is good until the end of the decade, while Reid’s will last until 2029, after he turns 70. Reid is allegedly currently the NFL’s highest paid coach.

Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt stated, “Mark, Brett, and Andy have accomplished historic success together, and we are thrilled that they will continue in their roles for many years to come.”

“Mark, Brett, and Andy individually represent the best in the NFL at their respective positions, and as a unit, they form one of the best leadership groups in professional sports. We are excited about their ongoing success in the upcoming years as they have been outstanding leaders for this organization both on and off the field.”

Reid went on, “I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Clark and the whole Hunt family for allowing me to be the head of this legendary franchise. His wife Tammy and I have enjoyed living in Kansas City for the past eleven years. We’ve been welcomed by the neighborhood and have seen our family expand, adding all 12 of our grandchildren while we’ve been here.

“I’m thankful to the players, coaches, and staff who have all dedicated their time to this process. There have been a lot of people on the field who have contributed to our success and Super Bowls. I also want to thank Bob LaMonte, who is my agent. Chiefs Kingdom is a unique location, and I feel privileged to be here.”

Reid has the potential to leave a lasting impact in Kansas City, especially with Patrick Mahomes leading the way. At just 28 years old, the three-time Super Bowl MVP is predicted to dominate the field for many more seasons. He is considered by many to be one of the best quarterbacks of his era.

Donovan stated: “I want to thank Clark and the entire Hunt family for their continued support and faith in the work that we’re doing in the community and off the field. It is a privilege to help lead this organization’s business operations.”

“I’m grateful to have a highly skilled workforce that spans all departments and are all essential components of the company. I’m excited to build and share more historic moments with the Kingdom and am honored to be a member of a team that has achieved unheard-of success.”

In addition to Mahomes, Travis Kelce, a tight end who is dating pop sensation Taylor Swift, is among the most well-known players in the NFL for the Chiefs. Louis Rees-Zammit, a former rugby union winger, just joined with Kansas City to play running back.

“I’d like to thank Clark and the entire Hunt family for the support I’ve received over the past seven seasons,” Veach said in closing. I consider myself fortunate to work with incredibly bright individuals, and I take pride in the job we have done to bring three Super Bowls to Kansas City.

“I am excited to continue my career in a city that’s embraced me and my family the way it has and look forward to more opportunities to bring more championships to Chiefs Kingdom.”
