After defeating Middlesbrough, Leeds United will have a short turnaround in the Championship promotion chase. They will play QPR away from home on Friday night.

With just a few games remaining for the Whites, Leeds, Leicester, Ipswich, and Southampton can all see the finish line.

Leeds must now win their final two games in order to move into the top two, then hope for other results.

Middlesbrough’s intensity was there to see literally from the first exchanges of the game, and that kept up all the way to full-time.

Both sides left everything out in that game, and Leeds had to battle hard to come out on top in front of a raucous Riverside atmosphere, both home and away fans included.

Dan James was seen hobbling in the latter stages of added time as he helped Leeds to hold on, clutching his ribs and going to ground when the ball went dead, before being hauled back to his feet by a ‘Boro player assuming he was wasting time, and not actually stricken.

Joe Rodon was limping in the second half too when Leeds were looking to take the sting out of the game – again hard to tell if he was playing on a minor issue to run down the clock, or physically hurt.

Farke issues key update on Rodon and James – Adam Pope

Daniel Farke’s remarks regarding the two Wales internationals have been passed along by Adam Pope. Leeds will have three days off before hosting QPR on Friday.

After experiencing calf problems on Monday, Rodon seems to be OK, while James is “not looking good”:

Joe Donnohue of the YEP also disclosed remarks made by double-assist maker Junior Firpo, who stated that Jaidon Anthony was sick even though he entered the game late and that the left-back nearly passed out during the match owing to a recent sickness.

Leeds, grin and accept it.

It’s time to get over it and move on because we have two games remaining and eight days between them before we play Southampton.

You can see Firpo’s commitment since he gave a great performance even though he was unwell and on the point of becoming sick.

He’s been fantastic in 2024, and props to Anthony for wanting to play even when he’s not feeling well.

Rodon should be well for QPR, but if James’ rib injury is as serious as it appears, we might have seen his season come to an end.
