Newcastle United will be boosted by the return of Callum Wilson tonight, but it looks like Crystal Palace will come too soon for several players.

Howe disclosed to the media prior to the match that Nick Pope, Joelinton, Miguel Almiron, and Kieran Trippier have not yet returned to full training and would not play at Selhurst Park.

While it was hoped that players like Trippier would use their week off to rehabilitate from a calf injury, it appears that the condition is taking a little longer than expected to mend.

Additionally, Joe Willock (Achilles) and Lewis Miley (back) have been given time off and will not play in any of our next six games. They will be joining Sven Botman (ACL) and Jamaal Lascelles (ACL) on the sidelines.

Jefferson Lerma, Marc Guehi, Sam Johnstone, Rob Holding, Cheick Doucoure, and Matheus Franca will all miss out again, according to Crystal Palace’s new manager Oliver Glasner.

When asked if Trippier, Pope, Almiron, and Joelinton will be back in the lineup this year, Howe responded, “We hope so.” Before the season ends, we hope all four can play. Since none of them have started training with the group, it is difficult to provide a specific date.

“We’re trying to get as many players fit for the games we have coming up. I think there’s been some misleading stories that players are training and close to playing when they’re not. I don’t imagine a huge change in our squad for tomorrow’s game but hopefully one or two players could come back.”
