Fearing Edson Alvarez will push for the exit, West Ham is preparing for bids this summer, insiders have told Football Insider.

Alvarez, who moved from Ajax for £35.4 million in August of last year, has had a significant impact in his first season at the London Stadium.

If the team doesn’t win a fourth straight European season, the Mexican international may want to depart the Hammers when the transfer window reopens.

The 26-year-old has become a beloved character among the East London supporters thanks to his incredible performances, and West Ham officials don’t want to lose him.

However, the management fears that the center midfielder would push for a transfer to a major club this summer, much like his compatriot Lucas Paqueta.

Edson Alvarez might advocate for West Ham to leave.
Alvarez has had a fantastic debut season in the Premier League after securing a spot in the West Ham midfield.

His strong style of play has resulted in a few of bans, which has hurt the Hammers when he hasn’t been available in the center of the park.

During his time at Ajax, the Mexican was previously connected to elite European teams, but David Moyes’s team was able to finalize a deal for him last summer.

Alvarez, who averages 2.7 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game while replacing former captain Declan Rice in the middle of midfield, has settled in like a glove.

Given that Football Insider disclosed last month that Manchester City is expected to make another attempt to sign Paqueta, West Ham officials have every reason to be concerned about Alvarez’s possible departure.

If the Hammers were to lose two of their best players when the transfer market reopens in front of what should be an exciting summer at the London Stadium, it would be a serious blow.
