Following confirmation from Brendan Rodgers, a Hoops writer has provided Celtic with an injury report on “incredible” Parkhead star Daizen Maeda.
Celtic injury most recent
With a three-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership as the campaign’s most crucial juncture draws near, Celtic has reached a pivotal moment in their campaign. Despite Rangers’ recent dismal performance, there is no denying Rodgers’ team’s lead in the title fight; yet, another mistake by the league leaders might turn the tide.
The boss has been relieved that the Hoops haven’t had many injuries lately, but Maeda is one of those that hasn’t been able to play. This season, the Japanese player has five goals and two assists in the league. Those aren’t the most impressive stats, but his hustle and bustle
Many even speculated that Maeda’s season would be finished. Last week, Rodgers stated, “Daizen is still out. We just have to see over the remainder of the weeks left to see if he plays any part, but certainly won’t be tomorrow.” Rodgers acknowledged he had no clue when Maeda could return.
Another player who had missed time due to injury was Liam Scales, who returned to action with gusto in last weekend’s exciting Scottish Cup semi-final victory over Aberdeen.
Celtic get an injury boost from Maeda
After a Q&A session with Rodgers at a club function, Craig from CeltsAreHere asserted on X that Maeda might make his Celtics comeback as early as the following week:
“Rodgers did take part in a Q&A for an investors lounge event. I’ve had it confirmed by two people in attendance Rodgers did say Maeda is back running already and could be back as early as next week.”
Given that Rodgers had stated he would still be out for several weeks, this is a huge boost for Celtic. With two Scottish Premiership championships under his belt, the 26-year-old has proven himself to be a seasoned player for the Hoops, knowing how to pull through when the season’s real crunch hits.
Maeda’s return to action for the final few games will be crucial, as Rodgers himself is well aware of, having stated of the player back in September: “He does the running of two men, he is absolutely incredible and I was so happy for him that he got his goal. He was so good on the day for us.”
Whether Maeda manages to force his way back into the starting lineup upon his return remains to be seen, but having him as a substitute could be such a potent weapon up against tiring legs, especially if a goal is needed.
