Adam Pope claims that Leeds United may be without a player for Friday’s vital trip to Queens Park Rangers.
Leeds is attempting to get automatic promotion.
With another victory away from QPR, the Whites, who presently hold the second automatic promotion spot in the Championship, will aim to increase pressure on third-place Ipswich Town.
Daniel Farke’s team will jump four points clear of The Tractor Boys with a win at Loftus Road following Monday’s 4-3 triumph at Middlesbrough; however, Kieran McKenna’s team will still have two games remaining.
With Leicester City leading the table, it appears as though there may be a shootout for second place. Leeds will then play Southampton at Elland Road on the last day of the season. All signs point to a thrilling conclusion to the 46-game season, but Leeds and Farke are facing a fresh injury concern ahead of their encounter with QPR.
QPR vs. Leeds team news
Due to an injury sustained late in the game at the Riverside, winger Dan James has already been ruled out of the contest. Patrick Bamford, the striker, is now also questionable. Farke’s pre-match press conference was reported by Pope, who stated that the forward is a “major doubt” because of a “bruised knee.”
Bamford struggled during the first half of the current Championship campaign, with seven of his eight goals coming between January and March. He got back on the scoresheet on Monday against Middlesbrough, so Farke may have been hoping that was the start of another streak of goals.
Farke praised the number. 9 when he scored a fantastic goal against Peterborough United in the FA Cup earlier this year.
“After this goal, the entire globe will congratulate him for a world-class goal. This cannot be expressed in words. He deserves it, which is why I am thrilled and relieved for him. To me, though, what matters most is that he is back to his previous levels of fitness and, more significantly, is moving in a confident manner. It’s critical that he contributes to the team, presses hard, holds the ball, and coordinates play effectively.
Goals are usually vital for a striker’s confidence, therefore it would have mattered if he had recovered from a two-yard line. Of course, he feels even better if he achieves a world-class score.
But if Bamford is sidelined, Farke would have to start young player Mateo Joseph, who has impressed recently with a brace against Chelsea and an equalizer against Watford. Otherwise, he might have to go back to Joel Piroe.
