Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, is optimistic that the team can retain Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze this summer, but he hasn’t discussed the players’ futures with them.
Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, is still optimistic that Selhurst Park stars Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze will stay put, even if they haven’t had a thorough conversation about their futures yet.
As they are ready to play Fulham, the Eagles are in position to record their first four-game winning streak since 2020. However, there is some question around Eze, who had a knee injury during their most recent triumph against Newcastle.
It’s been reported that Palace would not entertain offers under £60 million for either forward, who might be on the radar of rival teams come summertime. With fresh contracts, Olise and Eze pledged their allegiance to the team last year.
Glasner said: “We will see, but I think yes, of course. [They have] a contract here, first of all, and the second is they feel well, otherwise they wouldn’t perform like they did, but it’s not the right moment now.
“I’ve played football for a very long period, and I don’t think any team in the world can predict their roster for the upcoming season on April 26. Although we are unsure, we believe they will be a Crystal Palace player in the upcoming campaign.
“The main goals are to win games, earn points, and finish in the league; secondary goals are to forge a cohesive team and develop our own style of play and handling situations.
“This is what we were focused on, and so I didn’t talk to them, what they plan for next year.” This season, injuries have hampered Eze and Olise’s playing time and number of starts shared.
With four goals in Palace’s last two games thanks to the prolific Jean-Philippe Mateta, the Eagles’ recent success has offered an intriguing look at what a fitter Palace team could be able to do under Glasner in the upcoming campaign.
In response to a question on Friday concerning the alleged minimum bid for his dynamic combo, Glasner, who had previously disclosed that the club had decided to postpone talks regarding summer business until after the Fulham game, stated: “The chairman is talking about money.”
“I’m just talking about sport, and the two fantastic football players, two great characters, two great men and this is important for me. Everything else is not for me to discuss.
“I’m not sure if someone is worth 50, 60, 100, or two million dollars. I’m a manager in the corporate world here. So, in my opinion, what matters is if they can assist the squad in winning games. And the response is in the affirmative.”
“We talked about the present because it was time to do so, but we will talk about it at other times and in other contexts. This weekend is also the third game in six days.
“My goal was to determine who is fit, what needs to be done, and how to get the club ready for a fourth straight victory. Everything else is merely a distraction from this, on which we were intently focused.
