It’s wonderful to hear that David Sullivan and Tim Steidten have finally settled on a new West Ham manager.

There is no doubt that West Ham has conducted a thorough search for a new manager, or at least a “potential” replacement for David Moyes.

Since it is likely that they will split ways with the Scot next month, the Hammers have cast a wide net.

With a major reconstruction required this summer following four and a half years of stability, it is imperative co-owners David Sullivan and Tim Steidten get it right.

Since the concealment at Crystal Palace, the Hammers have been associated with no fewer than fourteen different managers.

Journalist Graeme Bailey discussed the matter with Hammers News yesterday.

West Ham searched around for a new manager.
He attested to the fact that Sullivan and Steidten’s “shortlist” does, in fact, contain at least twelve names.

Bailey further disclosed that the majority owner is under intense pressure from two agents to select Julen Lopetegui. Crucially, though, Sullivan is remaining steadfast.

Yesterday, we also covered a significant assertion made by reporter Ben Jacobs on Paulo Fonseca’s inclusion on that list.

West Ham supporters, who have not been impressed by suggestions that Sullivan intends to appoint Lopetegui, were relieved to hear that.

This week, rumors that Steidten wants Fonseca or Amorim and Sullivan wants Lopetegui have raised concerns.

But something good has come from France this last night.

Because Sullivan and Steidten have found a new West Ham boss they both agree on and it’s great news.

Steidten and Sullivan locate a manager that they both approve of on Foot According to Mercato, the Hammers pair is in agreement over Fonseca, who is set to guide Lille into the Champions League.

Furthermore, they are now giving the Portuguese manager, whose contract expires at the end of the season, considerable consideration for the position.

According to the source, David Sullivan and Tim Steidten are big fans of Fonseca, and West Ham United is considering replacing David Moyes at the end of the current campaign.

“There is a good chance the former AS Roma coach will depart at the end of the current campaign, even though he is still fully focused on guaranteeing Lille’s spot in the Champions League next season.”

Choosing Fonseca over Lopetegui would be far more acceptable to fans.

Fonseca much more in tune with what fans want

Fonseca is a more attack-minded coach, something West Ham fans are craving.

He has also made it clear, with both his words and actions, that he very much likes to give youth a chance.

Hammers fans feel Moyes has merely paid lip service to bringing through young academy stars during his tenure.

And the club currently has a very exciting crop of talent emerging which needs to be utilised.

Seven of Fonseca’s most-used players in Ligue 1 this season are under 25. And he plays them in key positions, with 22-year-old academy graduate Lucas Chevalier in goal; 18-year-old Leny Yoro at centre-back; and 23-year-old Angel Gomes in central midfield.

Fonseca was named in a feature by The Athletic on football’s best up-and-coming managers last month.

What he had to say about his philosophy will further impress West Ham fans after this news from France overnight.

“I never think about the outcome alone. Earlier this year, Fonseca stated, “It’s about the process.”

“I want to make something that makes the game more enjoyable for you. And you must play in an attacking manner in order to accomplish that. You must make an effort to outmaneuver the opposition and generate more opportunities.
