In order to top a fantastic first night of the draft in which Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins joined the team, the Baltimore Ravens had to light some fireworks. Subsequently, the Ravens addressed the offensive line at last, selecting Washington right tackle Roger Rosengarten with a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Ravens selected Rosengarten with the 62nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft in an effort to add another long-term offensive lineman to their roster. Given that his stock had been rising rapidly over the past few months, Baltimore was able to select one of the biggest risers in the draft.

Baltimore sensibly got some extra protection for MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson after trading away Morgan Moses in the offseason and starting the season with a dubious combination of Josh Jones and Daniel Faalele at right tackle.

With a new protector in the mix, Jackson will be thrilled, and Derrick Henry will be grateful for a young player who has the potential to make an immediate impact in Baltimore. At this point in the draft, Baltimore did a terrific job, especially considering the available tackles.

While overshadowed slightly by teammate Troy Fautanu at left tackle (who was picked by the rival Steelers at No. 20 overall), Rosengarten is a solid prospect in his own right. The experienced tackle did not allow a single sack during his college career in one of the most pass-happy offenses in college football.

Rosengarten has some of the best footwork in the entire class, and he pairs that with tremendous strength at the point of attack that can wash rushers out of plays. Baltimore should like the fact his run blocking took a massive step forward between the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Rosengarten will likely compete with Jones and Faalele for the right tackle spot. However, if the Ravens want to take a chance on making him the potential successor to Ronnie Stanley at left tackle, his tremendous technical refinement should make that a possibility if they need it.

After filling a big need in the secondary by taking Wiggins, Baltimore now uses one of their best picks to land a potential starter on the right side in Rosengarten. If everything goes as planned, Rosengarten will play a big part in Baltimore’s new-look offense.
