Derek Ferguson acknowledges that he is beginning to worry that Jack Butland might depart the Rangers during the summer.

The Ibrox keeper has performed admirably since joining on a free transfer from Crystal Palace, but he hasn’t ruled out going back to England, so his time in Glasgow might come to an end after the current campaign.

Although Ferguson thinks the 31-year-old looks like a good fit for the Light Blues, he acknowledges that clubs are buzzing about the player and that there might be circumstances that make a move the best course of action for him.

It’s really difficult to evaluate, he stated in an exclusive interview with Ibrox News. He does, however, seem to understand Rangers; he likes representing the club and playing up in Scotland.

However, if other teams—possibly those in the South, as we know—show interest, it might work out better monetarily for him.

“We don’t know his family’s circumstances; perhaps they would like to live in the South. These are all uncertainties that we are unaware of.

“But you start to worry a little because there seem to be a lot of teams surrounding right now and he hasn’t stated he’s going to be with Rangers next season.

“Because he’s been phenomenal up here, he’s up for the player of the year up here, and with his performances he’s been absolutely brilliant.

Philippe Clement to lose Rangers stand-out this summer?

As long as he stays healthy, Butland will start for the Rangers and has been a stabilizing force during a difficult season.

If he doesn’t want to ask to return to the Premier League, the club won’t be able to afford to let him go, and Philippe Clement will have a difficult time filling his shoes.

As in January, there will probably be offers, although the former Manchester United loanee’s ambitions are less clear than the club’s, which is understandable given their hopes.
