This weekend may mark the final game for one Leicester City player.

After winning the Championship title and automatic promotion, Leicester has had a happy few days.

As The Foxes blew over Preston North End at Deepdale last night, they appeared to be barely over their weekend hangover.

Thanks to two goals from Jamie Vardy and a header from Kasey McAteer, the East Midlanders won 3-0.

Now, when they meet 19th-place Blackburn Rovers, who are still in danger of dropping out, Enzo Maresca’s team has the opportunity to get to 100 points.

An interesting team selection awaits

With the Championship title and automatic promotion, Leicester has achieved their goals.

At King Power Stadium on Saturday, the East Midlanders can now play without restraints, and Maresca might decide to give a few of the bench players a chance to participate.

Will Alves and Sammy Braybrooke, two gifted players, might play, as well as Wanya Marcal, who hasn’t started a league game since August.

Conor Coady started yesterday night’s victory at Preston, despite not playing as much as he would have liked.

It could be a day of farewells for some, with a number of players out of contract at the end of the season.

Kelechi Iheanacho could play his final game for the club

Kelechi Iheanacho could play his final game for Leicester on Saturday, as his contract is set to expire at the end of June.

Having not started a game since the start of December, it seems he’ll be free to depart on a free transfer.

Since joining the East Midlanders from Manchester City in a £25m deal in 2017, the Nigeria international has made 231 appearances, scoring 61 goals whilst laying on 34 assists.

Iheanacho has delivered a number of memorable moments, most notably during the 2020/21 season, when he netted 19 goals, including four en route to the historic FA Cup triumph at Wembley.

It’s not always been easy for him, having not been a regular starter, but he’s adored by City fans and will be missed if Saturday’s game is indeed a farewell.
