Ivan Toney is a target for Chelsea and Tottenham, and West Ham United has a significant advantage in their pursuit of his signing.
Football Insider reports that West Ham United is eager to strengthen their assault in preparation for the upcoming campaign. They have been given encouragement to pursue Ivan Toney, and they have their sights set on him.

The 28-year-old Brentford star is believed to be on the move in the summer and there is a lot of interest in his services. Since joining the Bees in the summer of 2020, Toney has only gotten better. He has been a reliable player for them over the years and assisted in their ascension to the English premier league.

He served a ban for engaging in illicit betting, but he was back in action at the beginning of the year. Even if he hasn’t been playing at his best lately, there is still a lot of interest in his services.

The English international is wanted by a number of elite teams, and since his contract expires in the summer of 2025, a move during the next transfer window is conceivable.

Toney wants to join a bigger club and he has no intentions to pen down a new deal at Brentford. As a result, the Bees are looking to sanction his sale as they do not want to risk losing out on the 28-year-old striker for free next summer.

Chelsea and Tottenham keen on signing Ivan Toney

Despite his dip in form, Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham United are all keen on his signature. The Blues have struggled to score goals in the ongoing season. Cole Palmer has done the bulk of goal-scoring for them and they are looking for a world-class number nine who can support him. Toney is one of the names on their list.

Tottenham are also looking to bring in a top striker in the summer as Ange Postecoglou looks to take the next step. Toney is a proven Premier League player and they are looking at him as a potential option.

West Ham received a boost in their pursuit

But, reports suggest that West Ham United are the ones leading the race at this point in time. The Hammers are looking for someone who can replace Michail Antonio up top with his future at the club uncertain.

They feel Toney could be an ideal fit and have received a boost as his price tag has been slashed. Brentford were earlier expecting to make around £70 million from his sale.

But, with him entering the final year of his deal, interested clubs were never likely to fork out that big a fee for his services. While the price tag has been slashed, the Bees are still looking to make a significant sum by sanctioning his departure.
