Ben Johnson has reportedly chosen what club he wants to move to after his contract at West Ham expires.
Whenever he’s been called upon this season, Ben Johnson has been consistent, hardworking and a reliable option. A lot of fans believe he should be starting over Vladimir Coufal, but David Moyes sees otherwise.
Despite this much improved performance, the academy of football graduate has failed to get enough of a chance this campaign. Understandably, he has become fed up with this and is likely to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The 24-year-old has attracted a lot of interest, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. He’s a young lad who has played over 100 games for the Hammers and possesses real quality. He has proven to be a versatile option and has played all across the pitch for West Ham. In particular, his ability to play equally well on both flanks of the defence is extremely desirable.
While Rangers were expected to make a move for him, the Daily Record reports that he will snub the Glaswegians to join Glasner’s Crystal Palace. Our own ExWHUEmployee revealed Palace’s interest some time ago and said they offered him a great deal.
Obviously, until pen is put to paper, there is still every chance that he moves somewhere else – or even stay at the London Stadium. It will be sad to see a player like Johnson who grew up supporting the club leave, but who can blame him? He can’t just let his career stagnate, not when he has so much promise.
