Borna Barisic, a defender for Rangers, is getting closer to moving out of Ibrox during the summer transfer window.

The Daily Record reports that Trabzonspor, a Turkish club, has reached an agreement to sign the left-back, who is 31 years old.

The Croatian defender’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and the Gers do not plan to extend it. Trabzonspor has offered him a two-year contract with the option to extend for an additional year, therefore it is likely that he will go to Turkey.

In the Scottish Premiership this season, Barisic has made 16 starts and has three assists. After the season, Trabzonspor plans to sign John Lundstram, Barisic’s teammate.

The Turkish club have also offered the midfielder a three-year deal. Lundstram has been a key player under Philippe Clement and the Bears have offered him an extension at Ibrox.

Rangers duo set for Ibrox exit

Clement has done an excellent job in his first season at the club. When he took charge of Rangers, they were so far behind Celtic in the race, but gradually they managed to close the gap. In fact, they even overtook them at one point and should have preserved the lead.

But a mini-collapse in the end has hurt them badly and they trail by three points behind their rivals. Rangers will face Celtic in the Scottish Cup final and can end the season on a high note. In the SPFL, however, it looks difficult for the Gers to beat Celtic for the title with four games left to play.

While Lundstram has been a key member of the side, he is also one of the club’s highest earners. Clement should look to rebuild his side around young, hungry players and should look to offload both of them in the summer.

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan has refused to mention names but he has dropped a significant hint about his transfer plans.

Barisic has made over 230 appearances for the club. Although his performances have often been criticised, his commitment to the club has remained top-class.
