Today’s mystery surrounding West Ham continues, as a board insider says the end-of-season awards have been “cancelled.”
Following nearly five years of consistency and quiet, West Ham has been in the news for the past two weeks.
The press and social media are covering every spit and cough of the team’s hunt for David Moyes’s possible successor.
The Hammers are rumored to be in talks with at least two of the fifteen managers with whom they have been associated.
However, the “company line” from West Ham’s management is still that Moyes won’t be decided upon until the completion of the current campaign.
Many West Ham supporters have taken issue with it, believing that the manager should be given a proper send-off at home against Luton the following weekend. They believe that the decision should have been made and made public.
Uncomfortable circumstances arise at West Ham
Technical director Tim Steidten allegedly faced a ban yesterday from both the London Stadium and the first team changing room at Rush Green.
Recently, the German spoke of his “euphoria” at being in total control at West Ham. Additionally, he pledged his future to the club, stating that he saw it as a five-year undertaking.
Regarding the Steidten ban allegations, West Ham reacted to Hammers News. But all it did was deepen the sense of mystery surrounding the circumstances.
All of this suggests that in the upcoming weeks, Moyes and you will part ways.
Therefore, would that also account for the club’s decision to postpone its yearly awards ceremony?
Since a board insider claimed the end-of-season awards have been “cancelled,” there’s more intrigue surrounding West Ham.
Further enigma as insider alleges that awards were “cancelled”
Among his contacts are vice-chair Karren Brady and majority owner David Sullivan.
Furthermore, he says it looks like the well-liked West Ham dinner, which helps the Academy financially, has been “cancelled yet again.”
“It seems the club has canceled the West Ham Players Award ceremony dinner yet again,” Whetstone stated.
It has frequently taken place at the Grosvenor Hotel on posh Park Lane in London, with a regular table costing £3,720. There have been no announcements or advertisements for the event, which is typically held in May and helps support the West Ham Academy.
“Awards usually include top goal scorer of the season, signing of the season, team performance of the season, save of the season, goal of the season, young Hammer of the season, Dylan Tombides award, Players’ Player of the Season, Individual performance of the season, Players’ project award, Women’s Hammer of the Year and of course the climax with the Hammer of the year being crowned.”
Another hint Moyes is on his way?
Is this the latest hint Moyes is on his way? After all how could the club hold an awards presentation if he was on his way. And if Moyes was staying then surely the awards would be going ahead?
Or perhaps there’s another reason it has been shelved.
Last year West Ham held a Road to Victory Celebration Dinner at the InterContinental London O2 on August 3.
It has been reported that West Ham’s first team squad and staff, including Moyes, went out for a team bonding meal last night.
There have been suggestions that meal could be a farewell to the manager.
Some have questioned the timing of the night out with West Ham playing Chelsea this Sunday.
But many feel that timing in itself suggests Moyes looks very much to be on his way after the season finale at Man City.
