Wrexham CEO Fleur Robinson has announced her departure from the club following their historic back-to-back promotions. Robinson has been instrumental in the club’s success both on and off the pitch during her three-year tenure, overseeing their return to the Football League and subsequent elevation to League One.
Robinson’s exit coincides with a period of significant change at Wrexham , with Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney having purchased the club in 2021. The duo have overseen a remarkable transformation of the club, both on and off the field, and Robinson’s departure marks the end of an era at the Racecourse Ground, reports WalesOnline.
Reynolds and McElhenney expressed their gratitude to Robinson for her contributions to the club, stating: “We are extremely grateful for all that Fleur has done in transforming the club over the past couple of years and we wish her every success with her future plans.”
It has been an honor to lead Wrexham as CEO for the past three years, as Robinson herself stated, expressing her pride in the progress made while she was in charge. I take great pride in the fact that the club is in a much better place than it was when I joined.
According to the Daily Star, Robinson’s leadership has been widely appreciated by the club’s followers on social media, with many citing her important contribution to the team’s recent success.
Now that Reynolds and McElhenney are still in charge of Wrexham, the team is ready for more expansion and improvement in the years to come.
She was up surrounded by football, as her father Ben Robinson is Burton Albion’s chairman. She arranged Wrexham’s FIFA 22 debut during her stay with the team, making it the first time a non-league team has appeared in the game.
She was also instrumental in overseeing the backstage cameras for the well-known documentary “Welcome To Wrexham.”
Robinson was honored on football’s prestigious Black List for her significant contribution to the national sport and made history as the first black woman to hold the position of CEO of a professional football team. Her departure from the Welsh club comes after a slew of departures.
Heroes of double promotion, such as club captain Ben Tozer, Luke Young, who served the longest, Aaron Hayden, Rob Lainton, Callum McFadzean, and Jordan Tunnicliffe, have all gone after their contracts expired.
But as they prepare for life in League One and look to bolster their roster in the summer transfer window, they have locked down several of their important players for another season. The team has also discussed constructing a stadium with 55,000 seats.
