The Athletic reports that Kalvin Phillips, a West Ham loanee, is expected to miss the rest of the season due to injury.
The website stated on Saturday, May 4, that Phillips will probably miss the final three games for the Irons due to an injury, one of which is against his parent club, for which he is not eligible.
The medical teams of Manchester City and United are reportedly in discussions on where Phillips should receive his rehabilitation.
Just ten games have been played by the England international for West Ham since his January short-term arrival.
At West Ham, Kalvin Phillips struggles to gain traction.
Since moving from City to London Stadium, Phillips has truly had a rough time of it, never finishing a full 90 minutes.
The midfield player was substituted off against Burnley at halftime over a month ago, and he has just played forty minutes since then.
It is looking more and more apparent that United dodged a bullet by not signing Phillips on a permanent basis in January.
This trial period, if you can call it that, shows that the £40million or so is better spent elsewhere, rather than on a midfielder struggling to find his form of old.
It will be hard for Phillips to keep his composure because, since moving from Leeds United to City two years ago, he hasn’t had a break.
His main issue right now is finding a team ready to pay a high price for him; if not, he’ll have to spend another season on the Man City bench.
Unfortunately for West Ham, there won’t be any difference at all if Phillips is out for the last few games of the season.
