Jamie Vardy’s future is firmly in the spotlight as his contract at Leicester City nears its end.

The Foxes legend has already revealed he has no plans to hang up his boots this summer when his current deal at the King Power Stadium ends and manager Enzo Maresca has hinted the 37-year-old, who scored 20 goals this season to fire the club to the Championship title and back to the Premier League, will be offered a new contract.

City have been told they would be “daft” not to keep the prolific striker at the club as they return to the top flight of English football, but with no new deal yet signed and sealed it leaves the door open for a potential exit this summer. Here is everything we know so far…

Vardy reveals decision

Jamie Vardy has spoken about his future as the end of his contract nears.

Speaking before City clinched the title at Preston, Vardy was asked if he wanted another crack at the Premier League and he said: “I’m not ready to hang the boots up yet, the legs feel fine. I feel as fit as I ever have, so we’ll just see what happens.”

Maresca drops hint

Enzo Maresca has a feeling Jamie Vardy is not finished at Leicester City yet with the manager hinting that a new contract could be heading his way.

“He’s going to score goals until he’s 45 because it’s in his blood to score goals. We are very lucky that he’s our player. He’s scored many goals.

“Not yet (we didn’t discuss the contract) because the target was to finish in the right way. We have a game on Saturday and then we’ll sit, but my feeling is that he’s going to stay. This is just my feeling, but if I were to decide…”

City sent ‘daft’ message

Leicester City have been told they would be “daft” not to give Jamie Vardy a new contract.

Former Liverpool and Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock thinks Leicester would be foolish to let Vardy leave when his current contract expires at the end of the season, but suggests Vardy will likely have to accept lower wages to stay at the club.

“I think you would be daft to get rid of him,” he said. “He understands the Premier League, he’s got a winning mentality, and he’s good around the dressing room from the people that I’ve spoken to.

“He’s not going to be able to command what he’s on at the moment because of his age, but he’s always spoken so highly about Leicester City and the opportunity they’ve given him, and he’s repaying them.

“As he goes later on into his career, I think there will be an element of ‘listen I’ll play for whatever you’ll give me’. I think it would be a very wise decision to sign him up for another year,” he added, speaking to Football League World.

Wrexham executive Humphrey Ker has refused to rule out a transfer move for Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy.

Wrexham are planning for life in League One next season after winning promotion for the second successive season under Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds. And asked if they could make a move for Vardy, Ker refused to rule anything out.

“There’s nothing to say that Jamie Vardy wouldn’t be a great Wrexham player,” Ker told SPORTbible . “It’s not a name I’ve had mentioned inside the building before, but age and profile wouldn’t put us off.”
