After Sam Greenwood’s loan at Leeds United ended, Middlesbrough chose not to sign him permanently, as reported by The Northern Echo.

The Whites accepted a £1.5 million deal that would have allowed Boro to sign the Englishman after the end of the current campaign, but they decided against it.

Dominic Shaw stated on May 9th that instead of signing Greenwood to a long-term contract, Michael Carrick’s team has chosen to go after other attacking targets.

Whether Leeds are competing in the Premier League or the Championship, this will always be the case.

Is Sam Greenwood of Leeds United worth keeping?
Greenwood made his loan move to Boro in the summer and has since appeared in 38 Championship games, making 25 starts [FotMob].

Despite playing just 2,213 minutes, he has contributed three assists and five goals throughout his time with the team.

Even though he may have wanted to make a bigger difference during his loan period, he did manage to play the most games in a season in his career.

He might have fit in well under Daniel Farke because of his ability to press forward in an offensive midfield role.

He was able to win 32 tackles with a favorable 68.1 percent win percentage as a forward option.

Next season, he might establish himself as a valuable backup, particularly in the Championship, behind Georginio Rutter or Crysencio Summerville.

The ball is firmly in United’s court right now, however it is unknown what league Leeds will play in or whether Greenwood will feature in their roster.
