Newcastle United is considering Dougie Freedman to take Dan Ashworth’s post at Manchester United.
Keith Wyness, the former CEO of Everton and Aston Villa, thinks Dougie Freedman will give Newcastle United “competence.”

The head of Crystal Palace is one of the front-runners to take Dan Ashworth’s job as sporting director, according to Toon chiefs. Following his gardening leave, Newcastle did not lose time in appointing the 53-year-old’s replacement.

Supporters were informed in a daring statement upon Ashworth’s departure that they were actively seeking a new candidate for the position. As of right now, Manchester United and Newcastle have not reached a deal for the former Brighton player, with Newcastle sticking to their £20 million demand.

Wyness, a former Premier League executive, believes Freedman will have an influence at St. James’ Park. It is not believed that a compensation package will be a barrier for the man who has managed, played, and served as Palace’s sporting director.

Wyness said to Football Insider, “We’re a long way from fans chanting the name of a sporting director.” “Fans are content as long as they believe he is a capable individual with a strong network.

Dougie Freedman would contribute that. In the game, he already enjoys a solid reputation. He has worked on some excellent projects with both larger and smaller budgets.

I wish him well since I think he would be a fantastic hire. Until transfers occur, a football director’s activity is typically hidden from the public eye. When trophies are won and profits are distributed, then is when the true credit is due.
