When questioned about Hollywood actor Will Ferrell becoming an investor in Leeds United on Friday, Daniel Farke grinned. The Elland Road manager is under pressure to write an epic conclusion rather than the sob tale that many supporters fear as he tries to lead the team back to the Premier League on his first try.
Leeds has not advanced after five attempts dating back to 1986–1987, the inaugural season of the play-offs. With just one victory in their previous six games, Farke’s team had to find new life after blowing their chance at automatic promotion.
We have the history to get back to the Premier League, ideally as soon as possible, Farke stated. No one wants to finish it faster than me, I assure you, but you can’t promise that.
We have only enjoyed three seasons at Premier League level in the last 20 years. My main goal is to not just get this team back there, but to make a lasting impression on them.
I understand how challenging it might be, as expectations and feelings are high in Leeds; but, if you are not able to withstand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.
