Wrexham have confirmed that another player will leave the club this summer when his contract expires.
Earlier this month Wrexham published their retained list following their promotion to League One.
The Welsh club confirmed that club captain Luke Young and defender Ben Tozer will leave the STōK Cae Ras when their deals expire, having played key roles in the club’s back-to-back promotions.
On Monday Wrexham confirmed that young defender Scott Butler will also leave the club when his contract expires this summer.
The 21-year-old spent the second half of the 2023-24 season on loan non-league side Marine, helping the Merseyside club secure promotion to the National League North as well as win the Liverpool Senior Cup.
Butler started his youth career at Wrexham before joining Swansea City. He returned to the club in 2022-23 and made his senior debut in the FA Trophy in January 2023.
He spend the first half of this season on loan at Nantwich Town, before joining Marine in January.
The youngster represented the Wrexham Red Dragons at TST 2023 tournament last summer.
It’s expected to be a busy summer at the SToK Cae Ras as Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney look to bolster Phil Parkinson’s squad ahead of their return to the third tier.
Defensive reinforcements could now be a top priority; Wrexham only has five central defenders on the books, not many for a side that often uses a three centre-back system.
Several big names have been linked with the club, including veteran West Ham full-back Aaron Cresswell and Champions League winner Ryan Bertrand.
Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has also been tipped to join the Welsh outfit, as his contract with the Foxes is set to expire this summer.
Wrexham also hope to convince loanee goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo to join on a permanent basis when his Arsenal contract expires.
