Now that Wrexham is back in League One, the transfer rumors are beginning to circulate as Phil Parkinson considers potential new additions.
In order to get ready for life in League One, Wrexham needs reinforcements after receiving back-to-back promotions.
While Phil Parkinson has a strong base upon which to grow, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds will surely have to contribute money this summer in order to add more.
Luke Young and Ben Tozer were among the players who left Wrexham earlier in May, and the club issued a retained list.
Parkinson will need signings to not only replace those who are leaving, but also to strengthen the Wrexham squad.
According to reports on Friday, Wrexham has expressed a genuine interest in recruiting Josh Magennis, Stephen Humphrys, and Tom Pearce, the three Wigan Athletic players who were released.
Wrexham want Marvin Ekpiteta
Another name can now be added to the list in former Blackpool defender Marvin Ekpiteta.
According to the Fearless In Devotion podcast, Wrexham is considering signing Ekpiteta for the upcoming summer.
It’s noted that Ekpiteta wants to play in the Championship but could be tempted by a move to Wrexham.
Since Ekpiteta is from London, moving back to the south may have seemed appealing, but Fearless in Devotion points out that moving to North Wales might not present any issues.
The 28-year-old centre back has been released by Blackpool this summer and is available to sign on a free transfer.
Three center backs were recently released by Wrexham, as Tozer, Aaron Hayden, and Jordan Tunnicliffe all left the team this summer.
Now that Wrexham is getting ready to return to the third division, Ekpiteta could be seen as a substitute because he has League One experience.
