This summer, Leeds United is open to receiving bids for Brenden Aaronson up to £12 million.
Football Insider claims that the Whites are ready to take advantage of the USA international in the next transfer window.
In the summer of 2022, Aaronson signed a contract worth an estimated £24.7 million to join the Yorkshire team from RB Salzburg.
But after the team was relegated from the Premier League last year, he was loaned out to Union Berlin of the Bundesliga.
According to Fbref’s statistics, the playmaker has made 29 appearances in the German top division this season, including 13 starts, and has so far provided one assist and two goals.
Brenden Aaronson transfer latest
Leeds is ready to take advantage of Aaronson this summer, no matter what level they play in next year.
The Whites, who are still hoping to get promoted to the Premier League, take on Norwich City this Wednesday in the second leg of their play-off semi-final.
However, the team is making plans for life without Aaronson, regardless of whether they play in the Championship or return to the top flight.
It’s thought that Aaronson will return to Elland Road at the end of the campaign because Union Berlin has no interest in signing him to a long-term contract.
But in an attempt to get him off the books this summer, the Championship team has lowered his asking price to £12 million.
That would be less than half of what was paid only two years prior to sign the American.
Daniel Farke, however, has decided to try to cash in on him in the transfer market because he does not want to employ him in the first team squad for the upcoming season.
Before Aaronson returns to Elland Road, it is unclear what kind of attention he will receive.
On Thursday night, Leeds and the Canaries will play the second leg of their play-off semifinal match.
Leeds United’s loanees
There are several Leeds players who have been on loan this season.
Jack Harrison, Marc Roca, and Max Wober were among the players that left Elland Road following the team’s relegation to the Championship.
Though it’s unclear if any of these players will ever suit up for the team again, sales are anticipated during this transfer window.
The league position of the Whites may not be determined until the play-off final on May 26. Until then, they cannot begin to formulate transfer plans.
Aaronson’s sale will raise important funds
Although Leeds has acknowledged that losing a lot of money on Aaronson is not the best business decision, receiving a £12 million fee would help their finances.
When the offensive midfielder signed, there was a lot of optimism about him, but few Elland Road supporters would be sad to see him go because he has grown to be a contentious character.
The league that Leeds plays in the following season will have a significant impact on their transfer strategy.
Nevertheless, a move like this gives them a head start because they may start searching for possible buyers right once.
Many of the team’s loaned players are probably going to be sold permanently this summer, especially if promotion to the Premier League is achieved.
