The Athletic reports that Flynn Downes is willing to leave West Ham United this summer.

The news outlet stated online on May 17 that a large number of departures are anticipated at the London Stadium during the next transfer window.

Downes, who came to West Ham from Swansea in 2022, is one player who is willing to leave the team.

This season, the midfield player has been playing football on loan with Southampton in the Championship; the Saints are still alive for promotion through the play-offs.

Is Flynn Downes ready to leave West Ham United and the London Stadium?
That Downes is eager to quit the Hammers is not surprising.

The midfield player joined the team before the 2022–2023 season began, and under David Moyes, he only made seven Premier League starts.

Across all competitions he played just over 1,500 minutes of football, spending most of the season on the bench.

Since joining Southampton on loan, Downes has seen his playing time increase significantly.

He has been a mainstay at St. Mary’s, starting 31 games in the Championship, and he probably wants to play a lot of football with the first team again the next season.

There won’t be any promises for Downes at the London Stadium next season, with Moyes set to go and Julen Lopetegui anticipated to arrive in East London.

Southampton are keen to make his stay permanent, and if the Saints are to make an instant return to the Premier League, that would surely be a very favourable move for the 25-year-old.
