Julen Lopetegui will imminently replace David Moyes as the new West Ham United manager.
In order to replace Moyes, West Ham reportedly offered Julen Lopetegui a two-year contract worth about £7 million.
With the exception of Lucas Paqueta, Lopetegui already has major changes in store for the London Stadium, although he does not want to offload any of our star players.
Some, like Stan Collymore, have questioned if the Spaniard is the best candidate for the position, but Spanish commentator Guillem Balague is adamant that his compatriot is just what we need to lead us into an exciting new chapter in Spanish history.
As someone who is intimately familiar with Lopetegui, I much rather listen to Balague.
We must support the former Wolves manager wholeheartedly. We should all support him as long as there is noticeable improvement in his playing style on the field.
Compared to Moyes, Lopetegui will play a completely different role, which should fit our new style of operation far better.
West Ham has a completely new strategy for Julen Lopetegui.
It appears that the Hammers are about to embark on a completely new operational model.
Moyes was a man of immense authority. From managing transfers to coaching the first squad, he oversaw all aspect of the club’s operations.
Although Lopetegui will have certain duties, coaching the players will be his primary responsibility. And the Spaniard is getting a title that has never been bestowed upon a manager in our 129-year history.
The Athletic claims that Lopetegui will not be granted the title of “manager,” which is something that West Ham has never done before.
After discussing with Lopetegui the kind of players he needs to fit his system, Tim Steidten will be in charge of all transactions, both in and out.
I have no doubt that West Ham’s appointment of Julen Lopetegui will put them on the correct track. However, as was already indicated, before we see any genuine effects, we will all need to exercise patience.
He is an excellent manager, and I believe that things could get much better now that the new, more continental system is in place.
