Coventry City transfer news from CoventryLive as claims emerge that Preston are pulling out all the stops to keep their 29-year-old captain Alan Browne

Due to “interest” from Coventry City and recently relegated Sheffield United, Preston seems to be stepping up their efforts to hold onto its desired captain Alan Browne.

The versatile 29-year-old midfielder, who is out of contract this summer after 10 years at Deepdale, including nine seasons in the Championship, is much sought after by the Sky Blues, according to a report earlier this month by Alan Nixon of The Sun. The versatile Browne, who scored four goals and gave four assists for his team last season, can play in a variety of midfield and wide positions.

It is believed that Mark Robins is seeking to bolster his midfield after Liam Kelly was released and Callum O’Hare’s exit was soon confirmed. There seem to be a lot of offers on the table for Browne as he considers his options.

However, transfer expert Nixon claims on his Patreon platform that Coventry’s chances of signing Republic of Ireland international Browne, who has 35 caps for his nation, appear to be dwindling: “Preston’s chances of keeping shipper Alan Browne are soaring as rivals struggle to match their offer.”

“Republic of Ireland midfielder Browne has received a record contract offer, but Coventry and Sheffield United have also expressed interest.” However, Browne might commit to them in the upcoming weeks because the North End deal is larger.

Doug King, the owner of City, recently disclosed that the team’s recruitment staff is “on it” during the summer transfer window as he looks to support Robins in fortifying his squad in an effort to challenge for promotion the following year.
