Former club captain Lee Fowler has outlined one of the major transfer benefits that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney offer to Wrexham.
After their incredible takeover in 2021, the Hollywood stars have been in charge of SToK Racecourse for the past three years. Under their leadership, the Red Dragons have seen a rapid ascent, and after a 20-year hiatus, the team was promoted back to League One with consecutive wins.
Reynolds and McElhenney have brought significant business partners to North Wales and opened up a doorway to the globe with the acclaimed documentary Welcome to Wrexham. The ambitious group has made significant financial investments, and previous financial worries have long since been forgotten.
Wrexham is able to retain iconic figures in Phil Parkinson’s plans since they are no longer concerned about having to part with valuable assets. Fowler explained to The Leader how Reynolds and McElhenney made it feasible, saying, “They don’t have to sell players anymore.” Following their takeover, the owners have purchased. The last player they sold was, I can’t recall. Both [Paul] Mullin and [Elliot] Lee have remained. The club is now very different from what it was in the past.
Following a second promotion party in Las Vegas that was sponsored by Reynolds and McElhenney, Parkinson and Co. are planning to recruit, and more funding is anticipated this summer when another transfer window opens.
