Oliver Glasner’s former teammate has recently been contacted by Crystal Palace, and a contract has even been made available.

As Dougie Freedman goes to work, the recruitment process already appears to be going swiftly in light of Tuesday’s news that a deal to sign Chadi Riad is almost done.

The £13 million deal to join the Eagles has been agreed to by the Morocco international.

Now that a lucrative deal is on the table, Crystal Palace might entice another player to relocate to Selhurst Park.

Daichi Kamada is offered a contract with Crystal Palace.
It has now been reported by Il Messaggero in Italy that Daichi Kamada has received a contract offer from Crystal Palace.

The Japan international is currently facing a turning point in his career.

Kamada has until May 30th to choose between staying with Lazio under an extension or leaving the Italian powerhouse as a free agent.

The 27-year-old is presently requesting a salary of €3.5 million (£3 million) per year in order to remain with the Serie A team; however, Crystal Palace has now thrown gasoline to the flames by making that same offer to the Lazio No. 6.

It equates to around £58,000-a-week, a figure Crystal Palace have more than freed up on the salary bill after waving goodbye to James Tomkins and Jairo Riedewald, who earned £50,000-a-week and £55,000-a-week respectively in SE25.

Kamada scored two goals – and provided two assists – in 28 Serie A appearances throughout the 2023/24 campaign, while also making seven UEFA Champions League appearances as Lazio reached the Round of 16.

Oliver Glasner knows how to utilise Japan international

As aforesaid, Glasner knows Kamada well, and got the best out of the man from Iyo during their time together at Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Austrian used the versatile Japanese midfielder in an attacking midfield role, where he impressively scored 25 goals in 93 appearances under the man from Salzburg.

Kamada also provided 12 assists in that timeframe, meaning he averaged a goal involvement every 2.5 games under Glasner – a fine record.

Therefore, Kamada might end up being one of the biggest additions of the summer transfer window if Freedman is able to sign him for a free.

Strangely enough, after Glasner took over for Roy Hodgson in February, we were the ones who recommended this signing.
