We now have confirmation of the Globo Esporte stories that claimed West Ham United and Flamengo were in advanced negotiations to sign Fabricio Bruno.
When it comes to the Rio de Janeiro team’s transfer transaction, Venê Casagrande, a well-connected writer, says she has “confirmed” that the player is headed to the Hammers.
The reporter backs up the information that West Ham are offering €15m for the player, and says that’s a bid Flamengo can’t refuse, given that the defender is already 28-years-old.
It’s added by Casagrande that Fabricio Bruno will only play for Flamengo for two more games. He’s expected to feature against Amazonas in the Brazilian Cup tonight, and then against Milionarios in the Copa Libertadores on Tuesday. There’s no weekend match, since the Brazilian League is paused due to the floods in Rio Grande do Sul.
For now, there’s no information on whether this deal could stop the player from taking part in either of those matches, given that he trained normally to be a starter tonight.
According to Casagrande, the deal is nearly signed and the centre-back will have a five-year contract with West Ham.
