Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson gave little away on who will be the club’s next captain following the exits of former skippers Luke Young and Ben Tozer.

WHAT HAPPENED?

As Wrexham prepare for life in League One next season, questions have been raised over who will be the Red Dragons’ next captain. When asked who could succeed Young and Tozer, who were released earlier this month, manager Parkinson kept his cards close to his chest.

PHIL PARKINSON’S QUOTES
Luke Young and Ben Tozer were both excellent captains for Wrexham over the past few years, the manager of the team stated to The Leader. They go on to their next professional endeavor, and we shall choose the new captain. It goes without saying that Mulls [Mullin] and James McClean have both donned the armband. We have some strong leaders in the group, which is crucial in any season, in my opinion. We think it’s fantastic that Eoghan O’Connell has a lot of leadership potential because he has led the squad before.”

After receiving promotions back-to-back, Wrexham is eager to get started as soon as the English third-tier season starts in August. For the Welsh team, owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney of Hollywood, picking the correct leader is just as crucial as making sure their preseason is great and their recruiting is spot on.

Next?
The Wrexham team is presently enjoying their summer holidays, but they will resume preseason activities late in July. After that, they will go to North America to play friendly matches against the Vancouver Whitecaps, Chelsea, and Bournemouth teams.
