Super agent Jorge Mendes is rumored to have “asked” potential head coach Evangelos Marinakis to “recommend” possible candidates for Nottingham Forest.
Since the Reds confirmed their Premier League safety last Sunday, there have been rumors regarding Nuno Espirito Santo’s future. The Portuguese player has been associated with Bayern Munich, and clubs in both his own Portugal and Spain are reportedly keeping an eye on him.
Forest, on the other hand, has connections to more management. There have been rumors that the team is considering Vincenzo Italiano of Fiorentina and Roberto De Zerbi, the former manager of Brighton and Hove Albion.
According to a source in the Greek press, Marinakis is currently searching for a replacement coach. Sportime claims that Marinakis “wants something else” with a change of direction in the dugout, therefore he has turned to Mendes, who also represents Nuno, for assistance.
The gossip about Nuno’s future comes after he dropped a cryptic comment in last Friday’s pre-match press conference. Asked whether he hoped to be part of Marinakis’ grand vision for the club, he simply said: “I’m here now.”
Despite facing several obstacles, Nuno led the Reds to top-flight survival after taking over as manager in December of last year, replacing Steve Cooper. Along with officiating controversy, a point deduction, and multiple player absences due to injury and Africa Cup of Nations duty, he had to deal with all of this.
It was, he said, his hardest season as a manager. “When you ask me if it was hard, it was hard because we didn’t have the chance to build what is most important to me in football – the bond,” he remarked following last weekend’s victory over Burnley. The players’ faith in us and in one another is beginning to show now.
Unquestionably the hardest. We must now take a nap. Rest is in order for everyone, as it was somewhat difficult. Rest is necessary for the players, crew, and spectators. This is the time to truly rejoice and enjoy.
