Ashley Fletcher, a former striker for Sunderland, has stated that he will be leaving Watford this summer, making him a free agent.

During the 2023–24 season, the 28-year-old had a difficult loan stint at Sheffield Wednesday, making only 23 appearances in the Championship without scoring. He will be leaving Watford after only six Hornets games due to loan stints at Wigan and the New York Red Bulls.

Fletcher arrived at Watford as a free agent from Middlesbrough in 2021, and it was speculated that he had signed a five-year contract. However, a statement from the Hornets has confirmed he will be departing Vicarage Road.

In 2018, Fletcher played 16 games while on loan at Sunderland, where he scored twice and the Black Cats lost in the Championship.

In 2016, after progressing through Manchester United’s ranks, the striker moved to West Ham. A year later, he signed with Middlesbrough, reportedly costing Boro £6.5 million.
